I always like seeing what people thought was the best character to use in the Combat Simulator. Some choose carefully based on the arena and others really don't care what they pick. So who is the best character to be? It's not quite as simple as that. Here is the basic breakdown.

Speed
This is definately the most contravertial topic when choosing a character. Some say that the taller characters are faster, such as Mr. Blonde and Cassandra De Vries. I've heard a few comment that the Maians are quicker. Sorry to burst your bubbles people, but you guys are wrong. I've speed tested them on three different cartrages and discovered that all of the characters have the same movement rate. Even if those theories were true, why wouldn't everyone pick the fastest character?

Size
After reading the above paragraph, you might think that that size doesn't matter. Well it does. I've found it best to choose a character of medium height. Tall characters present too large of a target and are easily spotted a ways away. Smaller characters are a mixed bag. The good things are that they are harder to hit and see, as well as many players mistake them for something else because they are used to seeing larger opponents. The downsides are that they cannot see through peek holes and windows, and their default aim is pointed at leg height. Bullets in the leg cause less damage than those in the head or torso area.

Body
So many bodies to choose from... what should I use? It's always a good tactic to choose a character with similar colours to the arena in which you're playing in. I have a dark character, light character, and a medium character for specific levels. But what if the levels are random? If that situation arises, I would use your dark character because there are a lot of dark arenas.

Head
This one isn't all that important but it's best to use a head that matches your character or has similar colours. It's even better if you find a head / body combiniation that breaks up your body image and allows you to blend in better.

Here are the characters I have found to work well in the Combat Simulator:

Dark Character: NSA Bodyguard with dD Shocktrooper helmet.
Light Character: Alaskan Guard with Biotechnician helmet.
Medium Character: Area 51 trooper with my head.
